THE DOMESTIC REGULATIONS

Contract – Employers must provide a written contract in both Arabic and English, outlining working conditions, wages, and rights.

Probation Period – Workers are entitled to a paid probation period of up to 90 days.

Wages – Workers must receive their salary in cash or through a bank at the end of each month as agreed.

Working Hours – There are no set working hours for domestic workers, but most sectors in Oman have a 9-hour work limit.

Rest & Breaks – Workers are entitled to one day off per week, with compensation or an alternative day off if required to work.

Sick Leave & Health Care – Employers must provide appropriate medical care throughout the contract period.

Annual Leave – Workers are entitled to 30 days of paid leave for every two years of continuous service.

Termination of Employment & Changing Jobs – Workers may terminate their contract if they can prove employer abuse or contract violations.

End-of-Service Benefits – The law does not specify benefits, but workers should receive compensation for any unused leave.

Recruitment Fees – Employers and recruitment offices cannot charge workers any recruitment-related fees.

Your Identification Documents – Workers have the right to keep their passport and ID, and it is illegal for employers to confiscate them.
